•User interface utilizes a Farm/Location/Group structure. Inputs that are common to a group (for example, temperature within a barn) are inputted once at the Location level and inherited by all groups within that location.
•Common Feed Library for Farm: all feeds available to be used on a farm in the same file. No need to reinput the same data between files!
•Import feed analysis data from participating labs
•On many farms, the same base recipe is fed to multiple groups. With AMTS.Cattle.Pro, you can model the herd using Recipes. Simply assign a recipe to different groups, change the inputted intake for the group, and evaluate the results! Plus, when you make a change to the recipe, it updates the recipe for all groups it is fed to!

What about optimization?
AMTS.Cattle.Pro utilizes the latest in optimization technology (a genetic algorithm). This method, unlike any other optimizer used today, gives you, the professional nutritionist, more decision making control. This is because, as a non-linear system, there is really no one perfect solution. Rather, you tell the optimizer “show me five (or 10, or 100) solutions”. You then pick from these solutions the diet you think is best! In this way, you, the professional nutritionist, has final say as to what the diet is.
Additionally, this new optimizer has two objective functions: Least Cost with constraints OR Maximize Income Over Feed Costs. AMTS experience and research has shown that just by changing the objective function like this, income over feed cost can be improved anywhere from 5 to 10%. Imagine the feedback from your clients if you improved their IOFC 10% with today’s feed prices. This new optimizer will be commercially available in .Cattle.Pro 4th quarter 2008.
Training. AMTS LLC strongly believes that every new user of AMTS.Cattle.Pro should go through a training process. It really isn’t about the software. That we can train you in under a day. It’s the biology. To take full advantage of the powerful CNCPS model, you need to understand how it works. If you have no prior experience with CNCPS or CPM Dairy, we highly recommend five (5) days of training. Previous experience, three (3) days.
